Frequently Asked Questions:
I have not been to Country Retreat before, can I inspect prior to booking?
Of course, we arrange viewing times outside of exercise, feeding and resting times, so not to disturb our guests. We just ask you to call and arrange a time with us.
Do I need to book in advance?
Yes, the kennel and cattery book up quickly, especially on weekends and school holidays.
What is the method of payment?
Payment can be made by cash, Eftpos, direct debit and Credit cards.
How old must my pet be to stay?
At least four months old and they must be fully vaccinated.
Can I bring my own food?
We are happy to feed special diets provided by you. However, there is no reduction in the boarding fees.
Will you give my pet its medication?
Yes, and at no extra charge. But your pet will not be accepted if they have serious health problems, or a contagious disease or condition. Please advise us of any medical condition when booking.
May I bring my pet's blanket and toy?
That is fine, we like Country Retreat to be a home away from home. However, we are not responsible for the items, they are left at your own risk. Please don't bring bean bags or padded beds as these are hard for us to keep clean and we like to wash bedding every few days.
Will my dog play with other dogs?
We have different play groups in which the dogs can have a run and play with each other. The play groups are under constant supervision and we only allow dogs to play together who are suitable for playgroups.
I have two pets, can they stay together?
Definitely, subject to availability we can accommodate up to 3 pets in the same sleeping quarters together. (Dogs and cats have to be separate).
Can you send me photos or videos?
We try to do live streams regularly and post them on our Facebook page, so you can see what your pet is up to. Its a great way for us to let you know your pet is having a great holiday.
What if my pet becomes ill?
We keep a close eye on all of our guests and will act quickly if we suspect your pet is unwell. If possible we will contact your own vet, but we have a vet on call 24 hours a day seven days a week if needed.
Will my dog catch Kennel Cough now known as Canine Cough?
We hope not. However, Canine cough is basically the dog version of the flu. Even though dogs are vaccinated against canine cough there are numerous strains and so it is still possible to catch kennel cough. In this case the vaccination reduces the effects of the canine cough and the time period your pet is unwell. If we suspect a dog has kennel cough, we isolate them immediately and take them to the vet for a check up. Kennel cough can be passed through nose to nose contact, smelling affected dogs urine or even drinking from the same bowl or chewing the same toy. If you have concerns or for more information please contact your vet.
